While growing up Christie’s main interests & God given talents were sports and art. She was warned countless times by many people that she could not be either by profession. “Girls can not be real successful athletes or artists.~ You should pick a real career.“
Despite the gloomy predictions for her future by counselors, teachers, etc.... Christie Marie followed her inner voice and dreams. With the encouragement of her faith filled family she has gotten to live her dreams. Christie, at this point is a Mom of two awesome boys and a retired Pro Snowboarder who is now following her heart to be a professional artist. She is hoping to someday open a gallery in Hawaii. Her art has evolved, being greatly driven from her faith and her blessings of adventures with occupations, sports, art, people, music and world travel.
ART: Christie has her own signature way of sharing Nature's reviving energy. Her favorite subjects for her art revolve around the beauty of Nature found in the Hawaiian Islands and Sierra Nevada Mountains/ Lake Tahoe. Christie feels these two places have a kindred spirit and are a yin yang to one another. Same yet opposite. Christie was born and raised in the raw beauty of South Lake Tahoe and got to travel with her family to the lush islands of Hawaii.
SNOWBOARDING CARRER : From 16-27 yrs old Christie Marie was blessed with an eleven year career as a professional snowboarder 1989-2000. Eight of the years she traveled all over Europe, Japan, Canada, and the United States and ranked in the top five in the world in Halfpipe. Her snowboarding pictures were published in adds and editorial shots in national and International Magazine in America, Europe and Japan. One editorial shot was even in Vogue magazine! She has also been featured in three snowboarding movies. Christie’s experiences as a traveling professional athlete have immeasurably enriched her life and art, opening her eyes to the eclectic beauty of the world. During that time Christie took a few college art courses and did a handful of commissioned murals and paintings (one commissioned in Japan). In addition she got the pleasure of designing the graphics for two of her own Signature model snowboards. In the summers from June - September Christie would teach snowboarding at a snowboard camp on the glacier of Mt. Hood Oregon. In the spring and fall of those years she would work in tattoo shops designing and tattooing to make some extra money.
In 2014 Christie Marie Elder was inducted into the World Legends Hall of Fame for Snowboarding.
At age 27 Christie Marie retired from her snowboard carrier to start a family. She has been blessed with two boys whom she loves being adventurous with while, snowboarding, wake boarding, wake surfing, mountain biking, camping, traveling, doing art, etc.

Christie is mostly self tought through her art, with only taking a couple workshops after graduating from high school. The last and most intensive class Christie has taken in art was from David A Russo. He was the only person to study under Pablo Picasso and did so for a year when he was 17 year old. Christie took his fall / winter semester watercolor class at the South Lake Tahoe community college which was to be D.A. Russo’s last class before retiring. Sadly just after the end of the class in the spring David did pass away in his sleep.
